Improving Workflows with AI

Video

Artificial intelligence (AI) can provide new insights to physicians during their workflow.

While telehealth and digital health services to improve patient outcomes seemed to be the most talked about at HIMSS, there was no shortage of conversations about artificial intelligence (AI) to improve patient outcomes and physician workflows.

>> WATCH: Why Leveraging Real-Time Data is Important for Healthcare

Keith Bigelow, general manager and senior vice president of analytics and AI for GE Healthcare, sat down to speak with Healthcare Analytics News™ about all things AI.

For Bigelow, the ultimate promise of AI in healthcare is precision health — being able to know so much about one specific patient due to the amount of data collected from scans and an individual’s health record, to prescribe the correct therapy to make the patient healthy.

And, Bigelow said that a main benefit of such health technology is improving physician workflow.

AI aids physicians without disrupting their workflow, which increases efficiency. Algorithms allow the physicians to gain insights without disruptions or having to use different technology or go to a different room.

This technology also can lead to improved patient outcomes, because physicians can use it to make sure the patient does not have any additional conditions and that nothing was missed during the operation.
