Belong.Life today announced it completed a $14 million Series B funding round to advance and expand its cancer social network and Belong Patient Engagement platform.

The company created the Belong — Beating Cancer Together mobile app, which is a social network and navigator app for cancer patients, caregivers and providers.

The patient engagement platform, which launched at the end of May, leverages machine learning and artificial intelligence to provide engagement, user acquisition and predictive and preventive data to reduce emergency department visits and readmissions. The app serves approximately 200,000 cancer patients information about recovery, emotional support forums and access to experts who can provide educational information and clinical trial matching.

“We at Belong are focused on building the most robust, hyper-personalized and configurable patient engagement and research platform,” said Eliran Malki, co-founder and CEO of Belong.Life. “… Now, in addition to increasing our global cancer reach, Belong will bring its capabilities and expertise to additional diseases and stakeholders, to achieve the vision we established at the very beginning.”

The Belong Patient Engagement platform is designed to improve patient engagement, education, compliance, satisfaction, auto-care coordination and efficiency.

According to the Belong.Life, providers partner with the company to address staffing issues, work overloads, limited outpatient facilities and unnecessary emergency department visits. Providers can also use the platform to improve patient adherence and quality of life.

The company claims that providers who use its platform see up to a 20% reduction in doctor visits and up to a 70% reduction in administrative inquiries.

The platform contains Provider Engagement Zones which are designed to help physicians meet their goals and needs. Zones offer tips, reminders and information for every step of the treatment journey and help keep the patient and provider engaged with one another.

IQVIA led the funding round, with additional investments from The Group Ventures and others.

“Through its unique patient engagement platform with machine learning and artificial intelligence capabilities, Belong can utilize and complement IQVIA’s solutions to transform patient engagement,” said Tal Rosenberg, senior vice president of global technology solutions at IQVIA. “We are thrilled to work with Belong as they help transition patient engagement from transactions to experiences — giving their customers the type of engagement they want.”
