St. Luke's Lawson Discusses Bringing Vaccines to the Houston Community

One the one-year anniversary of the World Health Organization's declaration of the COVID-19 pandemic, CEO Doug Lawson, Ph.D., of St. Luke's Health System in Houston, discusses the planning involved for a large-scale vaccination event in historic Rice Stadium. The vaccination effort, set for Monday, March 15, is one of several that the health system will complete in its service area. Other events have taken place at Texas Southern and at the Woodlands. Lawson discussed strategies to reach underserved populations and encouraged the public to accept whichever vaccine is offered, regardless of the manufacturer. Although a mandatory mask order has been lifted in Texas, Lawson emphasized the need to continue mask wearing, along with social distancing and hand washing. St. Luke's is part of CommonSpirit.
