Phoenix Children’s Hospital hires new COO, and more | MED MOVES

Justin Bradshaw has been named executive vice president and chief operating officer of Phoenix Children’s.

Bradshaw will begin in his new role on July 1.

He brings more than 20 years of healthcare experience to the role. He comes to Phoenix Children’s after serving as operations officer at Intermountain Medical Center in Utah.

“For the past decade, I have admired Phoenix Children’s commitment to excellence and Bob’s strategic foresight in expanding to meet the needs of a burgeoning community,” Bradshaw said in a statement. “I am deeply honored to contribute my own expertise in managing and expanding healthcare services as Phoenix Children’s opens new hospitals to serve families throughout the Southwest.”

Bradshaw also served in operations leadership at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. And he also spent five years at Children’s Nebraska as vice president, clinical and ancillary services.

Robert L. Meyer, president and CEO of Phoenix Children’s, said Bradshaw’s experience “is exactly what we need at this pivotal time.”

“His experience has equipped him with unique insights and expertise that will be invaluable as Phoenix Children’s enters a new era as one of the nation’s largest pediatric health systems,” Meyer said in a statement.

Peter Powers

CommonSpirit Health names president of Colorado, Kansas hospitals

Peter Powers has been named the president of CommonSpirit Health’s Greater Colorado and Kansas Market.

Powers will oversee nine hospitals in Colorado and Kansas. He will begin in the new role on July 22.

In his new role, Powers will lead these hospitals: Bob Wilson Memorial Hospital; Mercy Hospital; Penrose Hospital; St. Catherine Hospital-Dodge City; St. Catherine Hospital-Garden City; St. Francis Hospital; St. Francis Hospital-Interquest; St. Mary-Corwin Hospital; and St. Thomas More Hospital.

Most recently, he has served as CEO of Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood, Florida. But Powers has previously spent eight years in the CommonSpirit system previously.

He joined Longmont United Hospital in 2012 as the director of strategic planning & business development/administrative fellow. He later served as the hospital’s vice president of operations. Powers also served as chief executive officer of St. Anthony Hospital from 2018 to 2020.

Before joining CommonSpirit in 2012, Powers was the president and managing partner of Domain Companies in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Eric Benink

HCA Midwest Health names chief medical officer

Eric Benink, MD, has been named chief medical officer of HCA Midwest Health.

Benink took the role on June 1. He is now overseeing health quality and safety efforts through the system, along with the graduate medical education program.

Before joining HCA Midwest Health, he served as chief medical officer of HCA’s North Texas Division's Medical City Arlington, a post he had held since 2016.

Benink said in a statement that he’s “thrilled” to join HCA Midwest Health.

"I’ve been impressed with how HCA Midwest Health’s dedication to their mission and high-quality care has improved the lives of patients throughout the region,” Benink said. “I look forward to partnering with the dedicated medical staff, and compassionate nurses at HCA Midwest Health, while elevating our quality and driving innovation within our organization.”

Benink possesses 25 years of experience as a physician leader.

Previously, he served as chief medical officer at Regional One Health in Memphis, Tennessee, Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights, Illinois, and OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center in Rockford, Illinois.

Keith Zimmerman, president of HCA Midwest, noted Benink’s passion for patient care.

"Dr. Benink brings the right combination of proven experience, collaboration, and innovation to HCA Midwest Health's clinical leadership," Zimmerman said in a statement.

Yuri Pashchuk

AdventHealth hospital hires associate chief nursing officer

Yuri Pashchuk has been named the associate chief nursing officer for AdventHealth Palm Coast Parkway.

He begins his new role on June 17. AdventHealth opened the hospital in August 2023.

Born in Ukraine, Pashchuk and his family came to the United States in 1989.

Pashchuk most recently served as the chief nursing officer at St. Joseph's Health in New York, where he also held other leadership positions.

“A large part of my decision to join AdventHealth is the organization’s mission and values,” Pashchuk said in a statement. “As a faith-based system that focuses on supporting and serving the local community, AdventHealth was very much aligned with my own personal values, and I am proud to be joining the team.”

Kristen Sutton, chief nursing officer for AdventHealth operations in Flagler and St. Johns counties, said she is excited to see Pashchuk tackle the new role.

“With a decade of nursing leadership experience, Yuri will be responsible for leading and guiding the care provided in the inpatient nursing departments for our new 100-bed hospital,” Sutton said in a statement.
