A Dignity Health hospital appoints a new leader, an HCA Healthcare hospitals selects a chief nursing officer, and others take new roles.

Debra Weinstein, MD has been named the new president and CEO of the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education.

She will take the post beginning Jan. 1, 2025.

Weinstein is the chief academic officer for Michigan Medicine and executive vice dean for academic affairs at the University of Michigan Medical School. She previously served as vice president for graduate medical education at Mass General Brigham.

“I am honored and inspired by the opportunity to lead the ACGME – a critical and impactful organization that I have enormous respect for,” Weinstein said in a statement. “I am also excited to work together with the GME community to optimize physician education in pursuit of our shared goal of improving health.”

She has chaired the Association of American Medical Colleges’ Group on Resident Affairs and participated in the Institute of Medicine’s Committee on the Governance and Financing of GME.

George E. Thibault, MD, the ACGME’s board chair-elect, said she is eminently qualified for the role.

“Her national recognition for contributions to GME, visionary leadership style, and extensive experience collaborating with the ACGME will be invaluable in advancing the ACGME’s mission and work serving the American public,” Thibault said in a statement.

Debra Hart

Dignity Health hospital names CEO

Betsy Hart has been named president and CEO of Glendale Memorial Hospital and Health Center in Glendale, Calif.

The hospital is part of Dignity Health, which is part of CommonSpirit Health. Hart began serving in the post on Aug. 19.

Hart possesses more than 15 years of senior leadership experience in healthcare. Before joining Glendale Memorial, she served as chief operating officer at Northridge Hospital Medical Center in Northridge. She led a host of construction projects at the hospital, including an expansion of the emergency department and a new urgent care center.

Before joining Dignity Health, she served as the chief nursing officer at Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center in Burbank.

Jill Welton, president of Dignity Health’s Southern California market, praised her work as a nurse and in her executive roles.

“Her track record of creating effective and cohesive teams that are committed to exceeding quality healthcare outcomes will enable Glendale Memorial Hospital to remain a pillar in the community that patients and their families continue to rely on for exceptional medical care,” Welton said in a statement.

JoAnne Masongsong

HCA Osceola hospital hires chief nursing officer

JoAnne Masongsong has been appointed chief nursing officer of HCA Florida Osceola Hospital.

She will begin in her new role on Sept. 3.

Masongsong will oversee the nursing team of the 407-bed hospital and Level 2 trauma center. She brings more than 20 years of experience in healthcare, and has spent more than a decade in nursing leadership positions.

Most recently, Masongsong has served as assistant chief nursing officer at St. David’s Medical Center, a 435-bed HCA facility in Austin, Texas.

Masongsong also served as assistant chief nursing officer at HCA Healthcare’s Round Rock Medical Center in Round Rock, Texas. She has held other nursing leadership roles at other healthcare facilities in California and Florida.

David Shimp, CEO of HCA Florida Osceola Hospital, offered a strong endorsement of Masongsong’s work.

“JoAnne’s nursing experience and leadership could not have been better suited for the culture of excellence we’ve built at HCA Florida Osceola Hospital,” Shimp said in a statement. “JoAnne’s proven ability in nursing operations, as well as her incredible advancement of nursing engagement makes her uniquely qualified for this role.”

Jordan Ruch

AtlantiCare appoints new chief information officer

Jordan Ruch has been named the new chief information officer of AtlantiCare.

Ruch will play a major role for AtlantiCare as the New Jersey health system continues an ambitious expansion with its VISION 2030 initiative. He brings more than 20 years of experience, most recently serving as the chief technology officer for RWJBarnabas Health.

AtlantiCare is partnering with Oracle Health to transform the health’s digital technology, with goals of streamlining business operations and improving the patient experience.

“I am honored to join AtlantiCare at such an exciting and transformative time,” Ruch said in a statement. “I look forward to driving innovation, enhancing patient care, and leading the IT and digital strategies to achieve VISION 2030.”

Michael Charlton, president and CEO of AtlantiCare, said he’s confident Ruch will make significant contributions.

“We’ve set big goals for the organization, and Jordan’s leadership, innovative mindset, and deep experience in healthcare technology will be instrumental in propelling AtlantiCare forward,” Charlton said in a statement.

Leslie Snavely

CHG Healthcare appoints new CEO

Leslie Snavely has been named CEO of CHG Healthcare, the physician staffing company.

She succeeds longtime CEO Scott Beck, who is retiring and moving to an advisory position as executive chair of the company’s board of directors. Beck served as CEO for the past 10 years and has worked with the company for 25 years.

Snavely has served as president of CHG since 2023 and has been with the company since 2010. Before joining CHG, she worked at Procter & Gamble and Pepsi.

“I’m honored to lead a company that makes such a huge impact on people’s lives every day, both through the healthcare facilities we support and the physicians we place who provide life-saving care to our communities,” Snavely said in a statement. “I’m excited to continue to strengthen our culture and keep finding better ways to help health systems and clinicians care for patients.”

Beck praised his successor as “a champion of our core values.”

“I know she will be an amazing CEO, and I can’t wait to watch her lead us through the next phase of growth and success,” Beck said in a statement.
