The Changes podcast: Exploring big shifts affecting hospitals

Author(s)Ron Southwick

We debut a new podcast that’s a companion to our new video series, Changes, which explores the evolution of the healthcare industry. Our first guest, Soumi Saha, discusses changes in federal health policy.

Chief Healthcare Executive® is launching a new podcast.

The podcast is a companion to Changes, our new video program that kicks off today. The new series explores the rapid changes in the healthcare industry, including big shifts in government policy, AI and other cutting-edge technology, and business trends.

Soumi Saha, a healthcare executive, pharmacist, and attorney, is the first guest of the program. She offers perspective on some of the sweeping changes implemented by the Trump administration.

“So what is happening isn't the challenge. The challenge, however, is the speed at which that change is happening,” she says.

In a nuanced and thoughtful discussion, she looks at the impending cuts in Medicaid and why hospitals should be planning now to deal with reductions in aid and a spike in patients without coverage.

Saha also expresses her worries about the possibility of hospitals curtailing services, including maternal healthcare, an area she is particularly passionate about.

The conversation also covers artificial intelligence, prior authorization, mergers and acquisitions, the outlook for smaller hospitals and health systems, and much more.

So while we hope our audience enjoys the video series, the podcast is also designed for those on the go, commuting, multi-tasking, or working out. You can subscribe wherever you get your podcasts.
