"We need to act and feel like a colleague of the physician. That means culture, that means language, and that means design…"
Josh Landy, MD, knows how busy a doctor’s day is.
“I work long days and often my breaks are 5 minutes long," he says. "I have 5 minutes to check my phone and my email, I've got 5 minutes eat my lunch, and I've got 5 minutes to go to the bathroom." For those reasons, he knows that physician-oriented software must be intuitive.
He also knows that making it so is not easy.
“The truth is, if I could access healthcare data through the same type of call to a server and that I can with my messages and with my email…we would have this problem solved in 20 minutes,” he noted.
This is the mindset he brings to his other job. In addition to being a practicing clinical care doctor, Landy is chief medical officer for Figure 1, a company that makes HIPAA-compliant medical cases digitally available to physician members across the globe. “We need to, as a platform, act and feel like a colleague of the physician. That means culture, that means language, and that means design…” he says.
