Lane will oversee women’s healthcare services throughout the system, which operates 12 hospital campuses and scores of clinics across Minnesota and western Wisconsin.

She will also oversee The Mother Baby Center, a partnership between Allina Health and Children’s Minnesota.

Previously, Lane worked at Community Health Network in Indianapolis, where she served as physician executive of the women’s service line.

Hsieng Su, MD, Allina Health chief medical executive, said Lane is devoted to serving patients and clinicians.

“Dr. Lane is an innovative leader with a passion for addressing the health care needs of women at every stage of their lives and a proven track record of improving access to high-quality patient care,” Su said in a statement.

Allina said that Lane is focused on reducing racial disparities in maternal and infant mortality.

“I am excited to be joining Allina Health and building on its tradition of high-quality care,” Lane said in a statement. “In addition to disparities in health outcomes, I am interested in developing a more holistic approach to women's health that includes obstetric care but does not ignore the growing health needs women have during the many stages of their lives.”

Lane also said that she wants to help clinicians have a better work-life balance.

Steve Massini

Penn State Health CEO plans to retire

After five years as CEO of Penn State Health, Steve Massini has announced plans to retire.

Massini said he will step down effective Oct. 1.

“I am incredibly grateful and blessed to have had the opportunity to serve Penn State Health and Penn State University, especially in my role as CEO,” Massini said in a statement.

Under his leadership, Penn State Health built two new hospitals: the Hampden Medical Center, just outside Harrisburg, Pa., and Lancaster Medical Center near Lancaster, Pa.

System officials credited Massini with helping Penn State Health develop into a regional, academic system.

Massini joined Penn State Health in 2015, initially serving as chief financial officer. The system said he played an important role in Penn State Health forming a partnership with Highmark Health, including a $1 billion investment in the system and the launch of insurance products.

Penn State President Neeli Bendapudi called Massini “an incredibly talented executive and wonderful individual.”

“He has been a transformational leader, driving expansion of the health system’s clinical presence across central Pennsylvania and the development of innovative partnerships, including our continued collaboration with Highmark Health,” Bendapudi said in a statement.
